Our History Flying To Bahamas
The Bahamas has always been our niche destination from the very beginning. In the 1980's we started receiving a lot of requests from Florida locals to fly to the Bahamas and enjoy pristine clear waters and untouched beaches. Our business took off from there, and our mission remains the same: safe, reliable, direct flights to the Bahamas .
The draw of crystal-clear water, sugar sand beaches, great surfing, diving and fishing, and amazing island culture created a growing demand for reliable private charter access from Florida to The Bahamas. We started receiving more and more requests for private charter flights to The Bahamas, and our team quickly developed a deep familiarity with the islands, the airports, and the logistics of flying there every day.
Air Flight obtained licensing and approval with the DOT and the FAA as a Part 135 Air Carrier, authorizing private airplane charter services throughout the Americas and Caribbean — with our niche-market focus - flying to The Bahamas. We have maintained our DOT & FAA Part 135 certification since 1987, and our Bahamas focus has been constant throughout our history. To our knowledge, there isn't another charter operation with a longer history of safe, reliable, and continuous flying to The Bahamas than us.
Over the years, travelers have chartered with us to every island with an airport in The Bahamas, including major gateways and private islands. Operations were originally centered at Fort Lauderdale International (FLL) and, due to a need for a larger hangar to accommodate our fleet of aircraft, we moved our base of operation to Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) in 2020, and we simultaneously launched this website along with the Bahamas United Air brand to highlight our Bahamas-first operation and promote our niche-market travel to the Bahamas. While Fort Lauderdale is our home base, we can coordinate departures from nearby airports, such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale International, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, and throughout the Southeast United States, depending on what best serves you. With flexibility to meet you where you are, we aim to make your flight to the Bahamas as seemless as possible.

About the Owner
Many guests appreciate that our leadership is rooted in hands-on aviation with real and professional flying experience.
Owner, Chris Allen, was born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma, where discipline, leadership, and service shaped his early years. Chris earned the rank of Eagle Scout — the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America — an honor attained by only a small percentage of participants. The experience instilled accountability, structured leadership, and a commitment to excellence that would define both his military and executive career.
At age fourteen, during a Boy Scout visit to the United States Air Force Academy, Chris became inspired by the mission of military aviation and the pursuit of excellence in service to the country. In 1987, he received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, graduating on the Dean’s Honor List with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
After completing pilot training in the T-37 and T-38, Chris began flying Air Force Generals and senior officials in the C-21 (Learjet 35A), conducting high-level VIP airlift missions worldwide. He later commanded global airlift operations in the C-141 Starlifter, flying to more than 40 countries and to every continent on Earth.
His assignments included Presidential Support missions transporting Secret Service teams and equipment worldwide, Nuclear Airlift operations as one of only a select few pilots in the United States qualified to airlift nuclear weapons under classified Top Secret security clearance, and Antarctica Instructor Pilot responsibilities supporting National Science Foundation operations to McMurdo Station and the South Pole.
Chris held multiple leadership roles including Chief of Training responsible for over 200 pilots and aircrew members, Squadron leadership directing VIP operations in the Persian Gulf, and executive-level operational oversight within Air Mobility Command. He received multiple Aerial Achievement Medals for classified missions and the Air Mobility Command’s Excellence in Airmanship Award for safely landing a severely damaged aircraft with senior command personnel onboard.
Following honorable service, Chris flew the Boeing 737 for Delta Air Lines before transitioning into entrepreneurship. Today, as President and CEO, he leads FAA Part 135 on-demand charter operations throughout the Southeast United States, The Bahamas, and the Caribbean — combining military command experience, commercial airline professionalism, and executive business leadership.
Beyond aviation, Chris is an avid diver and fisherman with extensive firsthand knowledge throughout The Bahamas. He enjoys sharing practical travel insight with clients — whether planning a luxury resort stay, coordinating an out-island adventure, or arranging marina access for yachts and fishing tournaments. His familiarity with the islands provides clients with guidance that extends well beyond transportation.
